Reading Goya’s biography by Robert Hughes, I came across this exceptional black chalk drawing by the Spanish painter. Goya made the drawing not long before he died in 1828 at age 82. That’s an unusual longevity for its time, which makes what he wrote in the drawing even more remarkable: “Aun aprendo.” (“I’m still learning.”) The drawing is small, 195 x 150 mm (7.6″ x 5.9″), and it’s at Museo del Prado in Madrid.
