Ballard Bell in pencil and pixels

This bell tower is a landmark in Ballard, a Seattle neighborhood that was its own independent city back in the early 1900s. The bell was salvaged from the town’s city hall building way back when it was demolished.

The timing to share this drawing couldn’t be any better. Today is Norway Day, and many Ballard residents will be parading by the bell tower as they celebrate the neighborhood’s Nordic roots.

The drawing below, created with the Procreate app on my iPad, is based on the pencil sketch from my pocket sketchbook.
